Questions about Elon Musk.
How much did Elon Musk spend on the 2024 election?
FEC filings and reporting from the NYTimes, OpenSecrets, and Reuters place Musk's 2024-cycle political spending at roughly $290 million, almost entirely through America PAC — making him the largest individual donor of the cycle by a wide margin. America PAC ran a swing-state ground operation valued at over $200M.
What is America PAC?
America PAC is a pro-Trump super PAC founded by Musk in mid-2024. Unlike traditional super PACs that focus on ad spending, America PAC ran a paid door-knocking operation across the seven swing states. It also ran the controversial '$1M-a-day' voter petition giveaway in Pennsylvania during the final weeks of the campaign.
Did Musk join the Trump administration?
Musk was named co-lead of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — an external advisory role, not a Senate-confirmed cabinet position — alongside Vivek Ramaswamy. DOGE was tasked with recommending federal-spending cuts. Musk departed the role in mid-2025.
